DIY Gingerbread House

Cardboard is a great material to use if you would like to make a Gingerbread House that can be used year after year.

I made this house out of cardboard and glued it together with caulk to made it look more like frosting. White gesso was used for the roof and on the front of the house. The furniture is made out of wooden clothes pins, and the house was sprayed with a clear coat to make sure that the candies will not bleed in the future.

Christmas Decorations

DIY Snowman from Recycled Bottles

These are made from POM Wonderful bottles, which is the perfect shape for snowmen!

I painted the bottles white, and made the hat and mittens from felt scraps. I think the dots I used for the mouth are supposed to be eyes, but they worked perfectly for a mouth. The nose is a small pom pom, and the scarfs are scraps of fleece.

Do Not Eat the Cookies!

There must have been a rash of cookie crime on the Polar Express!

Gift Wrap Ideas

For a fun and unique way to wrap Christmas gifts is to choose a theme to use as inspiration. Because the theme is only for inspiration to get you started, it can stray off and develop into something really fun!

My theme for this year is "Have yourself a Merry 80's Christmas" and because I make monsters, it only made sense to incorporate weepuls into the design.

Fermentation Fest

Fermentation Fest 2014

These photos are from the 2014 Fermentation Fest in October, which is a week celebrating: Foods made through fermentation, Farming and The Arts. www.fermentationfest.com

Visitors follow a route to see pop up pasture performances, art work installations by both professional & amateur artists, vendor tents, and a lot of unexpected goodies! (38 stops in all.)

We got to go through a corn maze which was really fun!

The tour stops are marked by a yellow marker letting you know you are getting close, and a red marker like this when you are at the location.

"Driving Miss Kiera" (The dog)

This represented invasive species of wild pigs.

 Just for fun

Pop up pasture performance

We were able to paint on this farmers silage rolls.

And of coarse I had to leave a fermentation monster!

Several signs like this talking about the county side.

This was floating in a stream.

This was another invasive species installation piece. (Came off more as a haunted house!)

This was located in front of a school, and was created by the school children.

 Halloween Night

I always wait until Halloween to carve pumpkins, so the faces are nice and crisp.

Here are some photos of houses that were really well decorated!
